WinNc is a file manager for Windows XP and Vista, like the well-known Norton Commander. The whole idea about this product is to manage files in a more graphical and handy way than in Windows Explorer. WinNc uses the same keys as Norton Commander - so if you ever used the latter, you will get comfortable with WinNc very soon.
WinNc allows you to copy, paste, delete, rename, move, edit, calculate the size of a folder, synchronize folders, compare text files, encrypt, split and merge files, give you system information, find a given file, compress and decompress files (even creating self-extracting files, or sending the archives by email). This program also acts as a complete FTP client, allowing you to upload files to an FTP server, or download files from it. You can connect to a network drive, assigning a letter to it. Along with those functions, the program allows you to extract MP3 from audio CDs, create MP3 playlists and compress WAV files to MP3.
When you install the program, it will open a Configuration Wizard, that will ask you to define some parameters, such as the interface style you would like to use, how you will control the contextual menu, how often the program is supposed to look for updates, and what compression utilities it is to use. Of course, you can change any of these parameters later.
